The Big Adventure Begins…
Well as most of you are aware, we’re now on the road. After a couple of hours sleep on Sunday night, we woke up at 3am, got ready, and left just after 5am on Monday morning.
This has been are schedule since then:
Monday
11am - Arrived in Adelaide, and eventually found Magill Free Church (Free Church of Scotland Continuing that is), where we were invited to stay for the two nights in Adelaide.
2:30pm - Had a nap in the church (not during a service, as some are inclined to do). They have facilities for people to stay there; bed, shower, etc.
4:30pm - Met with a Christian gentleman from the church, and went to visit another family in the Adelaide Hills.
——————————————-
Ok…this is going to take far too long, and I’m not spending my holidays writing!!
Tuesday
Went down to Adeliade city centre, spent most of the day there. Mmmm…haven’t had a Starbucks in ages! You know, they totally have a right to overcharge. Their white chocolate Mocha doesn’t have an equal in any coffee shop I’ve ever been.
Wednesday
Up at 3:45am, picked up by a taxi at 4:30am, and flying out of Adelaide by 6:20am. Once we landed in Sydney, we caught another taxi to take us to where our home would be for the next few weeks…our Hiace Campervan!
To cut a long day short, basically Wednesday was a day I’d rather forget about (although, I never will). Lots of patience testing, and wondering. "What are you trying to teach me here, Lord?" To add to a few fiascos, lets just say, I have a severe issue with the way Australian cities sign post their streets. It’s one things the British and Americans do much better, in my experience.
Thursday
Spent the day in Sydney city centre. It’s a nice place, once you get there. We just ‘mosied’ round the shops. We also had our first Hungry Jacks! To be fair, you get A LOT more for your money in HJ than in McDonalds, Burger King, or any of those other places. For $6.95 (about £3) we got a burger twice the size of a Big Mac, fries, drink, and an ice cream (like a McFlurry).
I’ll update shortly with what we did today (Friday)…

wow.
I wish I could cruise Australia…
Have fun!
YOUR IN SYDNEY?!!
soo jealous!!
i wish i was back there!! i loved Sydney the most I think!! How long are you there for? Oh, and how about did you get the campervan… just curious how get cheap cars/campervans to travel around over there… might need it sometime (in the not to distant future)!
Stephen
LOL!….This brought back a few memories!
To add to a few fiasco’s, lets just say, I have a severe issue with the way Australian cities sign post their streets.
We had walked around Sydney for a few months…not looking at street signs, when we bought our car. The first time I was driving in Sydney…I thought I knew the way around…but I forgot about one-way streets, streets I was familiar with walking…the other direction! I got quite a few horns tooted, and irate gestures, for a day or two! No accidents though
Good fun! Glad you two are enjoying it!
Sydney is known for its bad road signs. Perth is much better in many ways including road signage.
And its good to see your a HJs convert. I worked there for ~6 years through high school, tafe etc and I still eat there
Much better than McCardboard!
Brian - Maybe some day, eh?
Stephen - Yip! In Sydney. Staying for a while. With a friend for the past few days, but heading to the Blue Mountains, probably tomorrow.
We hired the campervan, but it ain’t cheap. It really depends on how long you’re stay. I’d say if you’re coming to stay for longer than a month, it’s probably best to buy, and if you come after the Aussie summer, you’ll likely get one pretty cheap.
Glenn - Ha ha…sounds interesting! Sure, it’s not much of a holiday without a few adventures.
Jermayn - Sounds like a bit of bias there?
Yeah, it probably is better. However, nowhere does a chocolate milkshake like McDonalds!
Milkshakes are over rated when you have a HJs thickshake!!
emmmmmmmmmmm…Sidney sounds delicious!!!
Hi Armen,
Was just chattin about you tonight in at work when i remembered ur site! Good to see the work you’re doing for the Lord out there is bearing soo much fruit! I still remember you as a very young lad with perfect manners answering the door, when i had to collect my son Alan from ur Mums!
God Bless u lots!!
Trevor Gordon, Ballymoney, Northern Ireland!
Jermayn - I didn’t know HJ did thickshakes! I’m definitely going to give them a try.
Chris - errrr….yeah. I guess it is!
Trevor - Hey! It’s amazing who knows about this site. I keep finding out about folks who read it, and I have no clue, until they comment.
“Perfect manners” lol - I think my mum, and even my wife could argue that! It’s more a reflection of my mother, than of me. I knew better than to be rude to my elders, if you know what I mean, lol.
Thanks for the support Trevor, I really, really appreciate it.
