The Mother of All Resource Lists For Web Designers

Are your bookmarks in a bit of a mess? Well, now is the time to clear them up a bit. I just know your Design, CSS, and Photoshop Tutorial folders are so full of links, you can’t keep track of them.

I’ve just done a bit of a clearout of my bookmarks, and decided to create a page where I could have all my links in one, easily accessible place; a place where others may share them with me.

There are heaps of different lists all over the web, and none more so than lists for web designers, but this list is different — different than all the rest! You see, this is not a list of tutorials, or designs, or downloads; but a list of lists! (There are tutorials, etc, which I would have loved to link to, but then it wouldn’t be an exclusive list of lists). Really, what I’m doing here, is giving you access to thousands of the best resources for web design.

When putting this together, I tried hard to avoid linking to the king of listing, and I think there’s only one ’smashing’ list included.

I’ve avoided adding images, to cut down on loading time. Enjoy!

I should really clear my own bookmarks / resources from the many locations they’re in. Nice idea, and nice list Armen.

(cough) Stumbled – Mohsin gave me his cold, the brute. ;)

David - lol….sorry, I’m just laughing at the thought, that not many other bloggers would use the word ‘brute’. Some might not even know what it means!

Thanks for the Stumble David. I’d love to know what you’ve bookmarked in your journeys through the http://www.

If it’s good enough for Roald Dahl to say (in The Twits), it’s good enough for me. ;)

Also, there’s a Brute Family blog I’ve linked to through my name. What an excellent blog title.

David - You must have a good memory! I read that book several times, and I don’t specifically remember the word ‘brute’ being in it. Maybe you read it recently?

That’s funny, I was just thinking that I needed to re-organize my bookmarks and write a post about how to organize bookmarks. Looks like you were Neil Armstrong, though, so thanks for the amazing reference :)

I did actually! My girlfriend brought it home from the sick kids hospital she works in, to show me, as I’d never heard of The Twits before.

Tim - Or maybe I’m Russia, considering some don’t believe man was ever on the moon, but we know Russia were the first in space. ;)

David - The Twits was the first Roald Dahl book I ever read, and the one which got me hooked on them. I got it as a present on the Christmas of ‘87 or ‘88 I think.

Steven - You’re welcome. Thanks for the resource :)

I am also guilty of having disorganised bookmarks.

At work at the moment so I need to get back to work, so I will email this to home and surf later.

btw thanks for providing the mother of all lists. what would the father of all lists be like??

Jermayn - No problem. I was actually tempted to call it the ‘Daddy’ of all lists, but there might be one a little better. Or, I might be able to add to this in the future, and then promote it to ‘daddy’ status!

Wohoo, that is one long list of lists. Thanks for the resoure(s). Nice work.

About organising your bookmarks: I wrote a weblog entry recently titled ‘Designing the next big web app’, in which I am outlining what I would like to see in a social web bookmarking tool. Since nobody (digg, delicious etc) seems to offer what I call graphical bookmarking I am planning to launch this project myself.
So if you are into bookmarking chaos, could you give me some feedback to help me help you to organise your future links. The link is http://www.squawkdesign.com/weblog/comments/designing_the_next_big_web_app/

Michael - I thought about adding them all up, but, well…I really couldn’t be bothered! It’s into four figures I reckon, but I’m not going to spend my time totalling them.

    T-bone - You’re welcome!
