Overshadowed WordPress Theme

overshadowedss

Overshadowed is a free theme which stemmed from a design I made for myself a number of months ago, but, I think it only lasted five days. It just didn’t suit my personality, although I like it.

It’s 2 columns with a fat footer. The sidebar is wide enough for the large square Adsense blocks, or other large ads. The 3 columns in the footer provide ample room for Flickr, MyBlogLog widget, your best posts, etc.

It offers a fairly unique look, with pleasent lines, and a nice drop shadow behind the content area. I’ll probably put together a 3 column version of this some day. It’s also widget ready.

I like this, however I would suggest using the same shadow effect as you did on the top for the bottom. It just looks a bit too top heavy imo, it may even it out a bit :D

btw meaning to ask you but what is the way YOU design your themes? I would not mind reading a tutorial or something on how you do it.

Man, you’re really churning them out, Armen!

Like Jermayn mentioned, would be great to read a post about your design process for WP themes.

Jermayn - To be honest, I wasn’t going to release this as a theme. It was just an old project. I’ve only come across one site using it so far, so it’s not worth working on at the minute. Maybe if I had more time.

David - This theme came out in the original launch. I just put out posts for each theme, so that they can be used as ’support’ pages (if required).

As for writing about how I put together my themes. I must be honest, I’m only starting to experiment with a particular process. I didn’t go to uni like you guys, and I’m not trained in ‘design process’, but, I’ll get there. When I do, I might share it, but, don’t hold your breath ;)

    Just a quick question..

How can I change the background from that light gray to the darker gray at the top.

I think it would be a lot more balanced that way and easier to read! Thanks!

Brad - Change the body background colour from #DDDDDD to whatever colour you want it to be, maybe something like #5F5F5F
