A Few Alterations

Do you like my new outfit?

Any suggestions? Any errors?

One thing I suggest, is that if you’re not using Firefox, then it’s about time you were. I used to wonder why people would rant on about Firefox, and explain how Internet Explorer is complete trash. Well, it’s true! IE is a web designers nightmare! It’s not even rendering the colours properly for this new design.

P.S. To the few people who have been commenting and emailing, I’ll reply soon. It’s my bed-time here!

I started using Firefox when I started using Wordpress. Firefox also allows me to tailor Flickr via the Greasemonkey features.

Though I still have IE available, Firefox is agreeably superior for providing a better internet experience.

Scott - I might have known mentioning FF and IE, would result in a discussion over them rather than my new design! :)

I used to start my first design with FF. At that time, i really didn’t know FF and IE are different. I recognized when IE translated my codes crazily. Since then, when designing, i have had to test both every time. IE is still the problem with me..
Hey ur layout seems to be unusual too with IE..

    Daravuth - Welcome!

Which IE are you using? In IE7 it looks ok, except for the colour of the ‘Armen’s Blog’ area. It should be the same as the sidebar, but it’s not!

I checked out yours in IE7, and your tabs are up in the air. Man…it’s very frustrating!

I am using IE 6.0. The problem takes place above ur random quote which appears no image but the white background.

Daravuth - I’m going to call the Internet Police…no man should be using IE6; it’s a crime!

The legibility is great, which is the main thing. I’ve mentioned a few times on my site that tiny text is a real pet peeve (and general no-no in web design).

I can’t remember what your old layout / design was like here, Armen, so can’t comment on improvements. I can say that it’s easy to navigate and read, which tops the list in usability.

    Nice job buddy.

One thing I just noticed, I can’t read ‘blog’ on your header image, so it reads, “Armen’s” and not “Armen’s Blog”.

David - Thank you heaps! That is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for. Different monitors render colours differently, as you’re aware, so that is why one needs such feedback. I trust it’s better now?

    Much better now, Armen. 100%.

That’s odd! When I open your blog, I see “Armen’s Blog” well enough in the upper right corner for about 250 milliseconds, and then it gets covered over by a square, white (blank) patch. I wonder, is it just my monitor?

Ok - I’ve changed the design again, as you can see. The reason? Well, I just thought the dark design looked a little to corporate or something. It didn’t look personal. This is a personal blog, so it should give that impression.

    What do you think now?

We are sitting here discussing your new layout, and the general opinion is good, but we are agreed that the A in Armen, in the banner, is a bit unclear.
It is obvious to anyone who knows what it is, but for a newcomer to the site, it might not be instantly recognizable.
    In our humble opinion !

Boys but I love this HTML carry-on !

Glenn - Changed! I thought it was a little sharp anyway, for a personal blog. What do you think now? Your opinion may be “humble”, but it’s sincerely valued.

P.S. do you have another email address? My spam filter really doesn’t like the one you use, and keeps marking it as spam. At least, I think it’s due to the email address. Try another one, or even a pretend one, I know your email address anyway.

Hi boy! Think the new design has much improved the look of the blog once again! Looking excellent! I like the new banner at the top aswell, I agree that the previous one looked a bit sharp but this one seems to fit in well!

The only thing I could say is that the text in the top right (Just a sinner…) doesn’t match in with the fonts in the banner and body of the blog as well as it could! But that’s just my personal opinion! If you think it’s good then just ignore me!!! ;)

Kyle - I’m glad you approve!

The reason I chose that font, was due to my idea that it was to look like a handwritten note. Maybe if I made it more of a personal welcome, it would make sense? Or maybe I should just change the font…

Keep an eye on changes, and let me know what you think.

Haven't you got anything to say?
