You’ll Not Be Hungry After A Harry’s Pizza

Well…as long as you get an extra large! Before we ever arrived in the Southern Hemisphere, we were well aware of ‘Harry’s Pizza’ in Port Lincoln. In fact, the previous Minister of Port Lincoln FPC spoke so highly of it, one might have concluded he was getting a percentage of referred sales! ;)

After five months, Melanie and I finally made a point of visiting Harry’s Pizza. Again, it’s probably one of those cases in which a picture speaks louder than words.

This was Harry’s “Volcano” (or something like that) offering…all 18 inches of it!!

To be fair, it was rather tasty. However, this taste came at a price. Along with a 1.5 litre of fizzy beverage, we paid out almost AUS $30 (£12). Pretty hefty for a pizza I thought, but maybe my lack of knowledge in the culinary art of pizza making, doesn’t allow me to fully appreciate it.

We both like pizza’s, but I’m not sure we like them enough to ‘dish out’ that kind of ‘dough’ (puns intended).

Armen the pizza looks so good I can almost smell it.

Perhaps the price is calculated by the formula pye times R squared see the link below http://www.worsleyschool.net/science/files/circle/area.html

A 12 inch pizza works out at approx 452 sq inches wheras an 18 inch pizza is approx 1018 sq inches if my maths is correct. So your pizza was approx 2.252212 times larger than normal(if 12 inches is the norm.). If correlated with the price then it equates to

My mouth was dribbling looking at that pizza - memories! Armen let me (as a keen supporter of Harry’s) fill you in on why that pizza was good value for money:

    1. Well you got a massive one which is expensive anyway

    2. A large pizza here (domino’s, pizza hut etc) would cost more, would be smaller and taste nothing like harry’s

    3. He makes his cheese…I think???

    4. erm…it’s generally better

  • #45 of 46
    By Kelsey
    on 15.06.07

Paddy you are absolutely right Harry’s Pizza IS THE BEST you can’t bet it (ps Paddy mmmh this Pizza is soooooo nicee mmmh oooh yummmmmyyy doesnt it just make your mouth water :P)

    on 26.06.07

Paddy - I suppose I’m just spoiled by Melanie’s great cooking, so I’m a little fussy. You’ll be the same in a couple of years time. Harry’s might not cut in then! :)

Haven't you got anything to say?
