The Armenian Genocide - April 24th, 1915

A scenario for you: imagine George W. Bush denied the Holocaust? Imagine he lived as if the death of 6 million Jews wasn’t genocide?

The result?

He’d probably not see the light of another day; at best he’d live, but never be able to show his face in public again. However, the same man will not admit that the slaughtering and butchering of around 1.5 million Armenians at the beginning of the 20th century, was genocide. But he’s not alone, quite a few governments, although most recognise it to have been an awful event, will not call it ‘genocide’, including the UK, Israel, Ukraine, Georgia, and of course, Turkey.

The rejection of these governments to use the term ‘genocide’ to describe what happened to the Armenian people, is altogether political. The Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923 is a proven fact. The historical record is clear. There have been Turkish tribunals and countless reports and studies by the United Nations, the European Parliament, the independent Permanent Peoples

This is a great post, thank you for all the work you must have put into it. It may interest you to know that the great RJ Rushdoony (who regularly comes up on my site) fled to America from Armenia as the genocide was taking place. He was only a young boy at the time, but he lost many of his relatives in the slaughter. Even in the midst the tragedy, the Lord used it to bring Rushdoony to America where he did much work for the kingdom of God - leading a generation of God’s people out of state schools.

    Mel - Thanks!

    Taleen - “Aye”??

Daniel - Thank you for the appreciation brother. I’ll be honest, this post took hours to prepare, and I was exhausted afterwards. However, although I knew the basics, I felt I should know more about it, so the benefit of study was mainly for myself, but I trust it has enlightened others also.

I never knew that about Rushdoony. Is there a book where he gives his account of what happened?

British and U.S. Archives Vindicate Turks

“The following article has been prepared based on the British and the United States archives. It proves categorically that the Armenian allegations were heard with great deal by the British following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, yet all the British efforts to incriminate the Ottoman government proved only the innocence of the Turks.”

Armen - with regards to Rushdoony I first came across this in a preface that his son wrote in his book ‘This Independent Republic’. However, I have a big volume of position papers and miscellaneous essays that he wrote so I’ll keep my eyes peeled and let you know if anything comes up.

Ismizade - Welcome! Thank you for the information. However, in future it might be an idea to provide links to the information.

My view is, if both sides were completely honest, there would be reasons to suggest that lies, twists and exaggerations have infiltrated both sides. However, to say that, “the much-touted

One slight correction to my earlier comment, from what I can gather Rushdoony was probably in his mother’s womb when his parents fled Armenia.

Haven't you got anything to say?
