Weekly Open Blog

The Idea?

Well, basically you make this post to be whatever you want by commenting. If you want to ask a question about me and my work without feeling it’s ‘off topic’ then this is where to ask it (or email). If you want to ask other readers for their views on something, or tell us something you’ve discovered in the word of God or in secular news, then let us know here.

You could even write your own ‘blog post’ in the comment section, or suggest a topic for me to deal with. I could go on, but I think you get the picture.

This idea is on trial for a few weeks - by your activity, or lack thereof, I will discern whether it’s something to continue.

Thanks Joanna. I liked the other theme, but it had no ’structure’ and I wasn’t sure how to integrate structure into that particular theme. Thanks for the feedback.

Aye, have to say, this is my favourite theme so far! It would look pretty well on another website too…if you catch my drift!!! ;)

I really like this one too Armen, very readable, and structured looking.
I miss the links to “previous” and “next” post though.

Thanks for this guys, I really appreciate it. I’m have issues displaying the ‘Top Commentator’ plugin correctly, so it’s out for now. I’ll maybe figure out a way to display it some other time.

Glenn - I’ll try to get that put back in place ;)

Taleen - I think I’d have to deal with that a piece at a time.

I would love to branch out into an area that would broaden the usefulness for this blog. I’d love to touch more lives in a spiritual and practical way. Is this wrong/bad idea?

    Hi Armen,

Thanks for visiting my blog, and for commenting. You ask an interesting question - just when can you remove the theme tag from your layout?

How much do you have to customise before you can take away credit? I’m all for giving Brian Gardner the credit he deserves, but it’s an interesting question.

No, how is that wrong? You touch many people in a spiritual way already…however, as your sister, I would personally like to know about the place as well (all the things I mentioned in the previous comment) That doesnt mean instead of though. I know many people would be interested to read about that side of things.

There is the danger of trying to cover too many topics and then noone is interested in what you have to say. As I go through the blogosphere, I see things that I’d like to write about that would benefit other bloggers. However, such people are unlikely to be interested in my personal life, and those that currently visit, are unlikely to be interested in advice to bloggers. Understand?

I personally enjoy both aspects, and it might surprise you how much “people” are interested in other peoples personal lives. Look how many huge newspapers/magazines flourish on precisely that. Of course there are ones that specialize in certain areas, but there are also many that have a finger in many pies.
You could also run two blogs, but then someone interested in your personal info, might miss out on something beneficial in your more technical blog, and vice-versa.
    mmm, not an easy one.

Good point Glenn! I’ve been advised to go for two separate blogs, but I refuse to. Two blogs equals double the maintenance. I have one other problem though, if I start to write other material and want to bring in a wider audience, I may need another name.
I don’t know if any of you understand branding, but ‘Armen’s Blog’ is a lead balloon for branding purposes, even in small ways. For e.g, if I look at someone’s sidebar and I see a link to ‘Paul’s Blog’ and then below it, a link to ‘Dietriffic’, I know what will catch my attention the most.
Maybe I’m taking it too far, but I think ‘Armen’s Blog’ gives a negative vibe to anyone who doesn’t know ‘Armen’. Am I wrong?

    Thoughts people.

Haven't you got anything to say?
