Series - What if…?

What if…
God decided to stop leading us tomorrow, because we did not follow Him today?

How well we know Proverbs 3:6,

“In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths”

And yet how little we practice it? In ALL our ways we are to acknowledge and inquire after His way. Do we? Yes Lord, we acknowledge thee at church (mainly out of habit), we acknowledge thee before other Christian’s (because we wouldn’t want to be found out as being one with a cold heart), we acknowledge thee in our outreach efforts (because we’ve learned to put on a devout countenance).

However, is God sought and acknowledged when deciding on a partner, friend, home, job, etc? Do we inquire after Him before we lift the telephone, do the shopping, take the dog out for a walk?

What?

I’m serious. God wants us to live in continual acknowledgement of Him. When we do our daily duties, such as filling the car with petrol, God wants us to consider Him; not so much to ask if we should put fuel in the car, but more that we ask for wisdom and guidance. There at the fuel station we may meet someone with a need to hear the gospel, and we’ll need wisdom and the power of the Spirit to say what God would like us to say, in the way He would like us to say it.

Paul said to, “pray always with all prayer…”; and Jesus said that , “men ought always to pray…”

I ask again, do we acknowledge/inquire after Him in everything?

Really enjoying this series so far brother. Very challenging and it has convicted me of my own shortcomings before God sometimes!

I just read your ‘about’ page.

I too am from Northern Ireland, although am now living in Edinburgh.

    Coincidental. ;)

Ah…I should have guessed David. All the best creative talent originates in Northern Ireland - well…maybe not!

    No, no, you’re absolutely right.

Now if only the rest of the world appreciated that fact.

While I’ll have to object to the conclusiveness of the “All the best creative talent originates in Northern Ireland” comment, I have to concede that there might be something in the water there.

Thanks for stopping by the blog Arman. I have to say that if I were treated based on how well I adhere to God’s simple but necessary principles, I’d be in deep trouble. Thank goodness for… well… goodness.

    All the best.
