Marching Forward!

It’s that time of the month again folks, and I’m glad to report that my third month of blogging has resulted in a ‘March’ forward, but has it been significant or minimal?

Before we look at this months ’stats’, it may be beneficial if we refreshed our memory with last months stats.

Most importantly, you’ll remember that our target over the first two months was to attain 5,000 page views. Last month saw us peak at 3,407 but in March I’m glad to report an increase to 6,038 page views. We had a couple of good days that helped with this target. Near the beginning of the month we had a day with over 500 page views, and a couple of days ago we had over 400 page views. Having therefore met our target, I am hoping for 10,000 by the end of April. (I use StatCounter to keep a track of visits. Interestingly, my web host uses Webalizer, and it reckons I got 19,321 page views in March).

How am I going to do that? Well, I’ll just keep posting a mixture of articles of biblical significance and personal fun. What I hope will also help, is the new WordPress theme that I have released. This will increase my exposure on the web too.

The Alexa ranking, has little significance and would only work properly if everyone downloaded the Alexa Toolbar. However, out of interest it went from 2,960,400 to 1,426,630.

Last month Technorati reckoned that (to their knowledge) there were 75 other blogs that linked here, meaning they ranked it as the 48,770 most important blog that they know about. This month it’s now 199 links from 163 other blogs meaning we’re now ranked 23,197. We have been steadily halfing our position in this area, but this will get more and more difficult as time goes on.

Also for your information -

In January I wrote 27 posts. In February I wrote 34 posts, and in March I wrote 37 posts! Near the end of March therefore, I posted my 100th post. Along with it have been almost 400 comments!

Taleen was again the Top Commentator (most ‘opinionated’ throughout the month), and her unofficial prize was the setup and endless advice for Curly Thoughts.

In the middle of February I began to make my audio sermons available for download. Here are the stats -

Currently serving 12 files, which have been downloaded 489 times.
This gives an average of 10.4 downloads per day and 40.75 downloads per file.

Finally -

Any brainwaves for the blog? I have received a few ideas recently but I’m always looking for more. It would also appear that the recent addition of video clips have went down well. Positive and negative feedback is always welcome.

As always, I am indebted to you the reader! Really, this would all be pointless if you weren’t reading it!

Joanna - It’s really not all that much. I set a target, not because they really mean all that much, but just to mark the growth. I’m also trying to figure out what it is that brings people back, and I have an idea that I hope will help with this.

Saman - You know as well as I do that this is hardly ’successful’ :) However, forward steps of any discription are encouraging.

Good to see you reaching your goals. What’s the goal for this month ? 10 thousand pageviews ?

Looking at your traffic trends, I’m sure it’s possible !

Aniela - Yeah, I don’t really know why I set goals to be honest, I’m not out to make a full-time income out of blogging but it just seems like the thing to do! :)
