Temporary Visitor or Permanent Lodger?

If you were to ask me what is the one place that I would advise never to take your wife if you don’t want to be out of pocket, my answer may not be what you imagine. The number one place would not be a jewelers, nor would it be an expensive restaurant. It wouldn’t even be a travel agent, or Oxford Street in London!

By going to such places, you’re going to be about 95% sure a purchase will be made, and you’ll be ‘out of pocket’ so to speak.

However, there is one place where I would say if you take your wife, you could be around 99.5% sure you’ll make a ‘purchase’.

What is it that I speak of? The dog pound!

It’s looking more and more likely that we shall keep her. Her name is not ‘Tilda’ as mentioned in the video, we’ve changed it to Brecca - I think! In fact, why don’t you suggest a name? We’d love to hear more ideas!

She has been here overnight, and I was half hoping that she would behave in a manner that would allow me to know that we shouldn’t keep her. But her behaviour and manner has been almost impeccable. Although she has been stuck in an 8×4 feet pen for most of the 3 months of her life, she has no bad habits. I can see that she already recognises that I am ‘pack leader’, and I’ve already ‘half’ taught her to ‘go to bed’, ’sit’ and ‘lie down’ (I say half because the response is not always immediate, but that’s to be expected at this stage). When we put her to bed last night (the kitchen), she went in and did not even make one sound the whole night, and to our amazement, there wasn’t even piddle to be found in the morning. She went straight outside and did her business when Mel let her out.

I can’t quite get my head around it to be honest. All dogs that I’ve known (I’ve owned three, and have experience with a few others) have whined the first few nights when put to bed, but not this one. She goes outside on command too, and when left outside for long periods, at no point does she decide to start letting us know it’s time to let her in again.

I am left with two problems. If we keep her, she will be an expense to get back to Northern Ireland. However, if we return her, she will most likely be put down, which would be a real shame for a dog with so much potential. Decisions decisions!!

You can’t show us that video and then NOT keep her, especially with the threat of dog euthanasia looming!

Tim - It’ll be a year anyway, could be more. The time is in God’s hands.

Joanna - Yeah, I heard you got a puppy. Only goes to sleep beside you in bed?? Hmmm…sounds more like a case of weakness on the owners part ;)
Kyle - Too true my friend, which is why she’s now part of the family :D
Taleen - Ok big sensible head!!

mate don’t even question whether you will keep that adorable wee mut. After a year and a half of companionship there isn’t a hope you will leave her behind NOT A MISSION! Mans best friend - never let you down, stand by you no matter what and always there to watch the footy with you and share your nuts! LOL

Matty - Trying to not think about what will happen when we leave to be honest. We both had to consider it, and I hope wisely. Either we leave her, or we pay through the nose (most likely) to get her to the UK.
As far as watching ‘footie’…not a chance over here, unless you get paid TV. Not that I would watch it that much anyway.

Haven't you got anything to say?
