The Most Sensitive Sermon So Far

Tonight I had to bring the most sensitive sermon I’ve ever had to preach. Even Melanie admitted to me afterwards, that while we were reading the chapter, she was wondering what I was going to say and how I was going to deal with certain parts.

The chapter in question is Genesis 38. As some of you are aware, we’ve began a character study on the life of Joseph in our mid-week meetings. Now the record of Joseph begins in ch. 37 right through to the end of the book, with only one chapter excluded - ch. 38. Because of this, I did ponder about whether I should preach it or not as it’s all about Judah.

However, the chapter contains many powerful lessons that are relevant for today, and I felt I should bring God’s truth as it is revealed.

Go and read the chapter for yourself - you’ll see what I mean.

I mean, from chapter 37 to the end of the book is all about Joseph, except ch. 38 as it makes no mention of him.

    Sorry if I wasn’t clear.

Definitely not an easy passage to preach from, but I’ve no doubt the Lord gave you the necessary wisdom to expound it.

James - Yeah, I definately knew God’s help and I know for sure now that it was timely.

Haven't you got anything to say?
