Now I’m not into pop music, and I hardly know the names of the latest artists. However, I was just sitting here relaxing with the T.V. on in the background when something got my attention on the Grammy Awards programme.
Mary J. Blige (I know the name and some of her work, but not much) gets up to receive a reward for something, and the first thing she mentions is,
“I first wanna thank my Father God, and my Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ….”
She then went on to thank God and her family for how she’s a changed person, etc.
Now I’m probably one of the most sceptical people when it comes to ‘pop stars’ and hollywood ‘movie stars’ calling themselves Christians. However…hang on…..she’s just won the Life-time Achievement award (i think) and her first words were,
“Praise you Father, thank you Jesus.”
She has truely made an impression on me. Now, it’s not enough for me to head out and buy her albums/singles, but I praise the Lord for the testimony the Lord is helping her to establish, especially for taking somewhat of a stand in front of an audience of thousands and millions of viewers.
Truely the Lord has His people everywhere! Sometimes we forget that the famous are just sinners like us, and they need the grace of God to reconcile them to God like anyone else.

I’ve wondered about this too Armen….think it was the lyrics of a recent song that she did with U2..it always played in mork and I often wondered..
I’m glad you put this up because I’ve ALWAYS thought it would be class if someone real famous got saved…imagine the worldwide testimony!! (not to mention the rejoicing in heaven!!!!)
Good post.

Taleen - hopefully she takes a strong stand that is evident for the ungodly to see.

After seeing ur post I checked an earlier album’s credits (share my world) and her first acknowledgement is to God the Father and Jesus Christ. She then thanks others and ends by thanking God again.
She appears to have been saved for quite a while. I pray that she not only appears saved but actually is.
