It’s true! Although to be fair it depends on a couple of things, a) you have to care about whether things look and run properly and, b) whether you’re interested in taking steps forward (progressing).
So why are they similar? Well if you’re a Christian then no doubt you’ll understand that it isn’t exactly the easiest way to live your life. The genuine believer follows a path of continual battling against the powers of self and satan, and to continually progress and become more and more like the Lord Jesus Christ requires hard work.
This blogging business is similar, in that to progress it takes a lot of effort and continual work.
For example; just the writing of each article/update takes effort, and if you’re like me and you don’t consider yourself to be the most gifted writer, it takes effort to write to a level that is ‘respectable’. However, because I also feel like I am providing a service here (keeping everyone up-to-date), I desire to progress in my writing skills - I want to get better.
Now it isn’t only for your benefit, it would be good for me if my writting improved. Infact, nowadays the level of writing is extremely poor. You only have to look around a few blogs to see what I mean (probably this one included).
But it’s not only the writing, but also the design and service. Now to be quite frank, the design of this blog is very simple, but I happen to like it that way (at least for this blog). But inspite of its simplicity, there’s still work involved. The header took a couple of hours. I had to get Mel to take the photo to the left with me holding my bible, which was selected out of about 30 shots. I then had to think of something australian and then find a photo of what I thought of. Then choose a suitable photo of Mel and I, then choose the colours, the font, the size, the placement, etc, etc…and when you’re not a Photoshop expert it all takes time, learning and effort.
Then there is the adding of pictures which need to be shrunk in size, uploaded and linked. The placement of the menus, categories, finding ‘plugins’ for things like ‘Recent Comments’, stopping spam posts, making the blog easier to find for search engines and submitting the blog to directories so people can find it, etc.
When you set these up, many of them you never have to look at again, but there’s always something else. e.g. I’m now providing a service of making my sermons available. These need to be edited, uploaded and linked. I’ve also just added code that will keep track of how many times each sermon is downloaded.
Conclusion
What I’m getting at is basically, it takes effort and work to make something better, just like our walk with the Lord. However, just like walking with God, even though it’s difficult, I am really enjoying it!
So…if there is something else I can ‘provide’ to make your visit to this blog better, please let me know. I know some of you are going to say more pictures, so please refrain and think of something else please
Would you like more devotional moments or something? Whatever it is, just let me know.

Joanna - Unless I just take pictures of completely random things everyday, then it’s a bit hard.
I can’t take any video’s at the moment, which is a bit annoying. I would put up video’s too if I could. I’ll try and get that fixed in the next few weeks.
Thanks for keeping up-to-date though, we really appreciate it.
