Our first mid-week service

Well today was probably the warmest it’s been since we arrived last Wednesday, but it wasn’t too warm. A bit like a really good summers day in Northern Ireland. We were told this evening though that the temperature is to rise considerably tomorrow and may reach around 39C, so that should be interesting for us. The advice given was, if we’re indoors, keep all the doors and windows shut and turn the air-conditioning unit on.

Anyway, today we had a few surprises. One was a visit from a couple of the young people from the church, and the other was a bunch of flowers from one of the members of the church, which were delivered to our door with a note of welcome. A lovely gesture indeed.

We then went down the street, and with the assistance of our good brother Lloyd, we applied for ‘Medicare’ (Aussie government medical cover) and opened a joint bank account with Bank SA.

We then had our Port Lincoln mid-week Bible study and prayer meeting at 7:30pm, which went on until just after 9pm. The time of prayer was very encouraging, with most (if not all - can’t place a face to each voice as yet :) ) taking part, and a few praying more than once. It really was a blessing to be there.

As I have said before, they are trying to break me in gently so I have no other services until Sunday. I have been thinking much about beginning a series in 1 John for the Sabbath days, and then maybe a character study for the mid-week service, but I am not fully decided as yet. I think it would help me alot in structuring messages and planning ahead so I know where I am going.
