In reply to an email I sent last night inquiring about how much luggage we’d be allowed to take, I got a phone call this morning to confirm my fears…that we’re limited to one 20kg bag each!! How on earth is it possible for two people to get all the stuff that they’ll need for a year into one 20kg bag each??
Having said that, because of our circumstances we should ring the airlines we’ll be travelling with to ask for an exception to made. So we’re going to do that tomorrow and I just trust that we’ll get a little favour, otherwise I’m not sure what we’ll do.
The good news is that my new lenses arrived today. Many of you may not be aware, but Mel and I enjoy photography. Now we’re no experts, but we enjoy the hobby, and I’ve been pleased with some of the results I’ve got since buying my first digital SLR (a Canon 350d) almost two months ago.
The ‘kit’ lens supplied with the camera isn’t exactly the best, so after alot of research I decided that the best thing to do would be to buy two lenses to get the full coverage of range. I got a good deal on a pair of Sigma lenses, a 17-70mm and a 70-300mm. It’s early days to be saying much, but I went out briefly today for a quick walk around Glenariff Forest Park and I got some nice shots of the waterfalls that are there.

To be fair, with all the fog and the lack of good light, it wasn’t really the best conditions for shooting but it was an enjoyable walk nonetheless, and to be honest I haven’t really time to be going out to shoot. The 30th is coming far too fast and there’s still loads to do. Tomorrow brings a busy day as Mel has a list of things for me to do that is as long as my arm (not quite).
